PEMBROKE, Mass. —
A Massachusetts State Police trooper was taken to the hospital Friday after thinking he may have been exposed to fentanyl after a traffic stop in Pembroke.
The trooper took a woman into custody at 1 a.m. on Route 1.
As they were en route to the barracks, the trooper radioed the barracks and said the woman made statements that led him to believe he was exposed to the drug.
During booking at the barracks in Norwell, a substance was found on the suspect’s clothing that the person described as being fentanyl, police said.
Testing by a regional hazardous materials team has been unable to determine the substance to be fentanyl.
The trooper was treated and released from the hospital and has shown no signs of fentanyl exposure.
The suspect, who was not identified, is in custody.
The barracks and the trooper’s cruiser were decontaminated as a precaution.
